Brand new footage of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has been shown off on the official Facebook page, giving fans a glimpse into the newly polished world of one of PlayStation’s greatest icons.
The playthrough is of the level ‘Upstream’, the fifth area in the first game. Players of the original will remember it by its frustrating chomping piranha plants, sinking lily pads, and difficult-to-judge floating leaves. It was a great level back then but looks stunning in the remake, and as the narrator of the video says, the 360 degree movement of the analog sticks rather than the D-Pad-only controls of the original is sure to leave players sinking.
This isn’t the only footage we have of Crash sporting his new look, as last month Sony released a video of the level ‘Hang Eight’, which first appeared in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. It features similar water elements, but also includes fly trap plants, a hover board, and hippos. Both examples shows Crash as charismatic as ever, and look as fun to play as the originals.
All three original PlayStation 1 Crash Bandicoot games will be present in N. Sane Trilogy, the third being Warped. The gameplay being developed from the base up by Activision’s Vicarious Visions, although they’ve used the same level geometry as in the originals. The games will feature modernised save points as well as another game mode in time trial.
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy releases on June 30th for PlayStation 4, however it’s uncertain whether or not it’s a Sony exclusive, since more recent Crash games have been cross-platform.
